Instructions for soldering (for translation purposes)

 Before starting to solder, the edges of the metal required to be joined must be well-cleaned. This can be done with a file or by scraping and the soldering iron 'tinned'.

1. TO TIN THE IRON - Heat the copper bit until nearly red hot, dip the point quickly into "BAKERS", and on the drawing out, apply the solder and re-dip again quickly. It will be found that the tip of the copper bit is covered with a coating of solder, i.e. tinned.
2. TO MAKE THE JOINT - Besmear the edges of the metal for joining with "BAKERS" and proceed in the usual way by drawing the tinned iron along the edges, adding solder as required.

 N.B. It is essential that the copper bit is well-tinned and kept hot whilst soldering.
